The Creasey House Comes Down!

On a cold, rainy day, a group of contractors, subcontractors and volunteers cheered as the Creasey Family house came tumbling down. At approximately 11:30 am on November 12, Ty Pennington and the design team lead the efforts to take down the old house so that building could begin on a new one.
As the excavator started its engine, it was easy to see that the old house didn’t stand a chance. The windows began popping out and the walls began to crumble. However one rear exterior wall stood its ground, it was not going down easy. After a bit more contact with the excavator and a lot more cheering from the volunteers, the old wall lost its battle and the entire house was demolished.
The evening crews had the responsibilities of clearing the spot to make room for new foundations. The ground work will be laid overnight to begin the framing on Friday.
Although, both Wednesday and Thursday brought tremendous downpours, gusty win and muddy, sludgy ground to stand on, the spirits of Jason Hedrick, Hedrick Creative Building and his volunteer crews were high. From the Braveheart walk on Wednesday to the demolition of the house on Thursday, there was much laughter within the ranks. The sea of blue shirts and white and black hard hats filled the area as the volunteers directed traffic, handed out shirts, pulled up porch planks or anything else needed to accomplish the goal of building a new home for the Creasey family in just one week.
On Friday, November 13, spectators will be allowed on the build site. Media, VIP’s and spectator hours are from 10 am until 8 pm. Parking for all is the old Walmart, Parkway Plaza just off I-85 at exit 89. Shuttles will be provided to transport each to the build site.
